PERSATUAN ALUMNI PERLADANGAN UITM MALAYSIA (PAPU)

The Planting Industry Management study program at ITM (now UiTM) began with the admission of its first batch of students in the 1967/68 academic year. The first batch of Diploma in Planting Industry Management (DPIM) graduates was successfully born in 1970.

Deepest gratitude to God and sincere appreciation to the management of ITM which at that time was under the leadership of Mr. Arshad Ayub (now His Highness Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama Arshad Ayub) for successfully creating and offering a new study program namely industrial management farming.

After more than 40 years, UiTM has overhauled and restructured the study programs offered in addition to offering new programs to the degree and post-degree levels.

Previously, the Diploma in Planting Industry Management (DPIM) course was run by the School of Applied Sciences. Now all plantation and agrotechnology programs whether at the diploma, degree or post-degree level are managed by the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology to produce trained professionals in all agricultural and related fields.

Until now, UiTM has successfully produced more than 7,000 DPIM graduates as well as those with bachelor’s and master’s degrees who are a source of sub-professionals and professionals who have been and are currently serving in the plantation and agriculture industry in the public sector as well as the private sector in the country and also overseas.

Human resources rich in knowledge and valuable experience, especially those who have retired, should not be left to take their own path without being fully utilized and turned into a valuable asset for the continued development of UiTM, especially the Faculty of Plantation & Agrotechnology and the country in general.

In fulfilling the desire to bring together as many UiTM plantation graduates as possible to consolidate their energy, thoughts, experience, expertise, network and economic resources in a superior organization, the PERSATUAN ALUMNI PERLADANGAN UITM MALAYSIA or simply PAPU was officially registered on 28 July 2011.
